محققان در کانادا با دستکاری ژنتیک یک نوع ویروس توانسته اند به موفقیت قابل توجهی در درمان سرطان دست پیدا کنند به گزارش محققان دانشگاه اوتاوا، آنها توانسته اند ویروسی تولید کنند که پس از ورود به بدن سلول های سرطانی را کشف و نابود کنند نتیجه این تحقیقات در نشریه علمی نیچر منتشر شده است به گفته این محققان یافته های تحقیقات آنها می تواند روزی به تغییر روش های درمانی منجر شود .متخصصان سرطان شناسی می گویند کاربرد ویروس ها در درمان این بیماری بسیار امیدوارکننده است
